There are some great products that I always seem to always be recommending. I set up an Amazon affiliate account. If you click on the item here you get the same price as anyone else in the world and Amazon sends me a few pennies if you purchase.
Castor Oil: Castor oil makes a great spray to keep deer and rabbits from eating your plants especially in the winter. https://amzn.to/4hvjQPy Mix 50/50 then mix 1 tablespoon of this mixture with one gallon of warm water. Reapply after rain. Watch your plants closely when the ground is covered by the snow. If there is no snow the animals have an easier time finding food and may leave your plants alone.
Tree Trunk Wrap: I sell a ton of fruit trees and this is an absolute necessity. Even if you are in the city there are still mice and rabbits that will eat the bark of your tree (mostly in the winter) and kill it. This link is to the absolute cheapest wrap I was able to find (because I'm cheap) this is what I use and will use on every tree even when they are 10 years old. Yes I have lost trees that old to rabbits. You get what you pay for, just make sure to get white or light colored. If you use black you will kill your trees.
Drip irrigation: I talk a lot about drip irrigation and I love it. Here is what you need:
1/2 in tubing 500 feet or 100 feet
Emitters/regulator: you will need one emitter per watering location, 1 per plant.
1/4 inch hole punch: Use this to make holes in your 1/2 inch tubing for your emitters. You could also use a drill bit but i would figure out a way to use it without a power drill. When I used a drill I often drilled through both sides of the tubing.
1/4 inch tubing: This tubing connects to your emitter
Drip emitter stake: this is where the water comes out. The water comes out near where the tubing connects to the stake the other 5.5 inches of the stake is only there to keep things from wandering. Warning Warning Warning!!! Do not push the stake in the ground too deeply or bury it. Roots can grow up into the 1/4 inch tubing and if that happens the water flow will be blocked. make sure these don't get buried when you mulch and don't push the stake into the ground too deep.
That's it your are done. Fold over the end of your 1/2 tubing to seal it and use electrical tape or a zip tie to hold it closed.
